Holographic black cards pair a deep, matte black stock with a stamped holographic foil that changes colour as the card tilts. The rainbow effect is not printed: it is a metallised foil film pressed into the sheet with a heated die, so the surface flips through silver, green, pink and gold depending on the angle of the light and the direction you look at it. Because the background stays black and uncoated, the foil reads as a lit object instead of a flat graphic, which makes it a strong fit for brand cards, greeting cards and hang tags where the finish itself carries the message. Logos, hairline rules, pattern grids and small icons all reproduce cleanly, and the same artwork can be carried across a card, a swing tag and a packaging insert.

The colour comes from a metallised foil stamped into the sheet, so it shifts continuously with the viewing angle and can never be reproduced by CMYK printing. Photograph it from three angles and you get three different colours from one card — that is the point of the finish.

Heavy black uncoated board and black art paper keep the background matte and dense, so the foil has maximum contrast and every edge of the stamped shape stays sharp. Black also hides edge wear and finger marks better than pale stocks.

Please supply vector files (AI / EPS / PDF) with all fonts converted to outlines, and keep the holographic foil area on its own spot-colour layer so the stamping die can be produced accurately. The rainbow itself comes from the foil film, so do not build gradients or photographic effects into the artwork — flat shapes, type and rules give the cleanest shift. Avoid line weights below roughly 0.25 mm and very small reversed-out type, because fine detail can fill in under stamping pressure. Large solid foil areas shift colour more dramatically but cost more than line work, so tell us which elements are essential if budget is tight.
